Fundy Discovery Site Development Plan
UPLAND led a consulting team of architecture, engineering, and tourism & economic development specialists for the Bay of Fundy Discovery Site Development Plan. The site represents a unique opportunity, thanks to its central and visible location, that could bring Nova Scotia tourism to a whole new level. The Development Plan recommends a beautifully-integrated and thoughtfully-compiled set of amenities, pavilions, a pedestrian bridge, trails, and a striking interpretive centre.
UPLAND executed the site planning and landscape design, facilitated a far-reaching community engagement process, devised interpretive themes, authored the Development Plan report and oversaw and integrated all other aspects of a very complex project including the architectural design of the visitor centre, servicing and costing as well as the business case for the new Fundy Discovery Site.
The Development Plan was presented and met with broad enthusiasm at a joint Council meeting and unveiled at a final public meeting on September 2016. Soon after, the detailed design for phase 1 of the project was initiated by the Municipality.
